Step 5: Ink the key flags

Each key has a flag that blocks an optical sensor when you press the key. If your filament isn’t opaque to infrared light, the flags won’t block the sensors properly. Paint or ink them to make them opaque.

  • We recommend silver metallic Sharpie.
  • Only Sharpie-brand silver works reliably.
  • Very light filaments may need several coats.

Black PLA usually doesn’t need ink.
