USB IDs
Every Svalboard uses USB vendor ID 303a.
The product ID depends on the firmware release and on the firmware flashed to each half.
These tables are generated from the firmware source, so they match the release files.
Current release
Section titled “Current release”vLaunch2, released 2026-10-08. Each pointing module has its own firmware, with its own product IDs.
| Firmware | Left half | Right half |
|---|---|---|
| Base board | 4044 | 4045 |
| TrackPoint | 404a | 404b |
| PMW3389 trackball | 4048 | 4049 |
| Azoteq touchpad | 404c | 404d |
| PMW3360 trackball (deprecated) | 4046 | 4047 |
Prerelease
Section titled “Prerelease”vNext1, released 2026-10-14. There is one firmware file per half. The board detects its pointing module, so every module uses the same product IDs.
| Firmware | Left half | Right half |
|---|---|---|
| Every module | 4044 | 4045 |
After you move a board with a pointing module to vNext1, Keybard asks you to choose the board again, because its product ID changed.
Linux udev rule
Section titled “Linux udev rule”On Linux, Keybard needs a udev rule to open the board. One rule covers every product ID above. See Linux: the udev rule.
See Releases for the firmware files in each release.
